Baby Saved with Help of Translation App!

By Brian Gibson, CEO

It was after 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, outside the St. Paul Planned Parenthood (PP) with none of their escorts present. A young Hispanic couple with a young child drove into PP. The car stopped and I asked in Spanish if they read Spanish. They answered in the affirmative, so I handed them our Spanish packet of literature. I did ask if they were there for an abortion and received another affirmative response. While they drove to a parking space, I quickly opened my translation app. I called out that we have free help and that abortion is very bad as they walked into PP.

After about five or ten minutes, the man drove out alone. He made eye contact with me. I said that they shouldn’t be there for an abortion through his open car windows. He came back about ten minutes later. I again told him that abortion was wrong. After another fifteen minutes or so, they all came driving out of PP. Though not stopping to talk to me, they did have to wait for traffic. I took advantage of that and asked if they decided not to have the abortion. She smiled and said they were not having an abortion.

With the return of Spanish-speaking abortion clients, I had been practicing translating phrases on my app which came in handy that day.
