On February 26, we were sidewalk counseling outside the Brooklyn Park location of Planned Parenthood during the morning shift. We were standing on each side of the driveway. Two other sidewalk counselors, John T. and Vicki O., were stationed on the sidewalk in front of the building. A young woman was walking toward us. Lynn called out to her while Doug was holding a sign that said, “Ask Me About A Free Ultrasound.” Doug waved her over to us. We shared the brochure, “We’re Here for You”. We also showed photos of a baby’s development including information about the abortion pill. Lynn asked her if she would be willing to go to the Crystal Women’s Clinic, a nearby pregnancy resource center. She said yes! We were so excited about her response! Lynn confirmed with the clinic that they had an available appointment.
We immediately drove her to the clinic. Within 90 minutes she had received a check-up and ultrasound. In the hallway outside the clinic, we asked her if we could see the ultrasound photos. We asked further questions while she shared them with us. We asked her if we made a difference whether to keep the baby. She indicated that she was undecided. We prayed with her and then showed her a video of a former abortion doctor, Dr. Levatino, describing the different abortion procedures.
We told her that we were willing to help her in any way that we could. We exchanged phone numbers and promised to pray and stay in touch with her. Lynn sent her a text three days later, telling her that we continued to pray for her and her baby. She responded two days later asking us if we were still willing to help her. Lynn said yes! She then indicated that she was keeping her baby! She is due to give birth to a baby girl in early June. Praise the Lord!
Crystal Women’s Clinic reached out to her indicating that they would like to offer her some baby gifts. Lynn took her to the clinic and she was delighted to receive the gifts. We purchased a car seat/stroller and other baby items that she requested on her baby registry. We dropped them off with her and met the father of the baby.
We have had many wonderful people offering support in the form of baby donations. We are planning a baby shower for her at the end of April. We praise God for how he worked through us to save this baby. We are also excited for the people who volunteered to support this family with their prayers and donations!
