Part 1
by Neil S., volunteer sidewalk counselor
On Thursday, June 11, a couple parked in the close parking lot to the left at the St. Paul Planned Parenthood (PP), so I was able to call out to the woman as she walked in. I ask the Holy Spirit to give me the words to say to each person. I don’t recall all the words but I believe my last words were, “Save your child and don’t make a decision you will regret the rest of your life.”
Part 2
by Laura L., volunteer sidewalk counselor
I took over for Neil at 10:30. About 45 minutes after he left, we saw a couple walking to their car and Kathleen S. and I called out to them. They drove out, but did not stop. I saw they had to stop for a red light on University, so I went down to the car and the mom rolled down her window; she was on the passenger side. I started to hand her our brochures and asked her if she had been there for an abortion. She said yes. I asked her if she was still pregnant, she said yes. I asked her how far along she was. She said she was a month and a half along and was going to keep her baby.
As I was handing her the brochures, I saw her husband/boyfriend also had in his hand the brochures that he must have gotten from Neil on the previous shift. I asked them if us being on the sidewalk helped them in the decision to keep their baby and they said yes. At that point the light turned green, but I was able to tell her that we’d be praying for them. I saw the license plate was South Dakota. I am sure there are other moms who leave because of the literature we give them or something we say that we don’t know about. I was just the lucky one to see that today. Thank you Neil for being out there today!
When Neil heard this story, he wrote, “It is a great day when you know a baby was saved.”
