(August 14, 2014) – Those who attended our Fourth Annual National Sidewalk Counseling Symposium in Birmingham, Ala. August 8-9 left feeling renewed in their efforts to reach out to women and save lives outside the abortion centers in their communities. Most of the attendees were from the South and had not been to a Symposium before. Friday evening, the participants were encouraged with a time of prayer and worship, followed by inspiring talks by Rev. Walter Hoye, Fr. Frank Pavone and Joe Scheidler. During the Saturday workshops, a wealth of information was presented by veteran sidewalk counseling leaders, ranging from the philosophy and spirituality of sidewalk counseling, to legal rights of sidewalk counselors, to basic sidewalk counseling techniques, to advanced training, to reaching out to the abortion workers and so much more! The breaks between workshops were filled with a great deal of networking and fellowship.
Many thanks to Fr. Terry Gensemer and Sarah Howell of our local host, CEC for Life, for all their assistance in making our first “on-the-road” Symposium a success.
We are already working on plans for next year’s Symposium. Keep an eye on this page for details as they become known.
