Incumbent Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN) is running against pro-life Republican Jason Lewis for the U.S. Senate. Smith is the former Vice President for External Affairs for Planned Parenthood (PP) in Minnesota. During her time at PP (2003-2006), she lobbied against pro-life legislation such as the Women’s Right to Know bill and the Positive Alternatives bill. As a U.S. Senator, she has voted against protecting unborn children from abortion after 20 weeks and against protecting abortion survivors from infanticide. Smith (who was the Lt. Gov. of Minnesota) was appointed by Gov. Mark Dayton to the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Al Franken in 2018.
