Update, February 6, 2018 – At the end of this story is a report about the defacing of the battery in the Duluth ministry van by a Sears mechanic. That employee has since quit and the apologetic manager replaced the battery for free. At the request of Sarah Winandy of the Duluth branch of Pro-Life Action Ministries, the Sears staff wrote “Jesus Christ is King of Kings and Lord of Lords” on the new battery!

Have you ever considered how much pro-life work requires spiritual preparation in order to stand in this evil day? (Ephesians 6:13) We “armor up” because our goal is for God to be honored and for babies’ lives to be saved from a hideous death and the souls of people to be saved through the message of Life, the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We eagerly look for opportunities to share that message with those passing by on the sidewalk and especially to parents on their way to the abortion clinic on the abortion days. Our days on the sidewalk are often a time where people will curse or shout terrible obscenities at us. We are careful to obey the Lord’s instruction to “speak the truth in love,” but too often these days, “Truth is hate to those who hate the truth.” It’s no wonder we will get a chalked message on the sidewalk that refers to us as “Haters” or another that says “Be kind – stop the hate Sarah.” Below is one of these messages written in chalk the night before an abortion day on the sidewalk at the Building for Women.
Of course there are other wonderful ways to communicate the message of Life and the gospel. Our Cemetery of the Innocents has effectively reached thousands of people, but as in past years, the message is not always welcomed. Cloverland Bible Baptist Church had the crosses on the front lawn, but someone didn’t like it at all. On a very stormy night someone took the time to tear down the crosses. Thankfully God’s people showed up and put them back up first thing in the morning!
Our ministry van has also been an effective way to speak to thousands throughout the country with the picture of an unborn 14-week-old baby and words on the side of the van that say “Fearfully and Wonderfully Made.” The scripture message on the back says “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” (John 5:24) All are powerful messages for Life.
So when we took the van into Sears Auto Repair and got a new battery it happened that a little over a month later we had some electrical problems. So taking a look at the engine we discovered that the new battery we had just bought has a very evil message written on it: “Hail Satan.”
Sears Auto Repair was very unhappy about this; it had to be one of their mechanics. They are graciously replacing the “unclean battery” with a new “clean” one.
Pray for those who oppose us for they are not our enemies; we love them and would like them to know the truth and be saved. Let’s remember, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)
