She Tried to Avoid this Specific Sidewalk Counselor, But God Intervened!

by Janet M., volunteer sidewalk counselor

August 25, 2023 — There is no denying God’s involvement in today’s save at Whole Woman’s (WW).  A vehicle pulled in and parked in the spot closest to the frontage road.  The person in the vehicle didn’t get out for half an hour.  When she got out, she walked over to me and asked if I remembered her.  (I didn’t. ☹)

She told me her name and where she was from (a distance away from the Twin Cities).  Then I remembered her.  Two years ago she came out of Planned Parenthood in St. Paul and told sidewalk counselor Andy L. that she couldn’t go through with an abortion, but didn’t know what to do.  We took her to Abria, the nearby pregnancy center, and I kept in touch with her, supporting her with resources until her son was born.

She started crying and told me that she had begun crying as soon as she saw me.  She had gone to WW specifically because she didn’t want to run into me.  We went to McDonald’s. We talked about what brought her to think abortion was again the answer.  She explained that diapers are an expense she just can’t afford even now. Having two in diapers was a deal breaker.  I promised her we would keep her stocked with diapers.  I also shared the idea of using cloth diapers.

I started praying outside WW’s once a month for two hours in January.  I have been there seven times for a total of 14 hours.  I’m pretty sure the odds are extremely small that I would be there on that Friday during the two-hour slot that she would pull in.  Every time I think about scaling back my pro-life efforts, God places me right where he wants me to be.
